So, i'll start with an essential primer...MAYBELLINE New Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser. This is a great primer for the skin as it levels out your pore's making your skin look smooth and even, making it the perfect product to use before applying your foundation.
My go-to concealer is the Rimmel Wake Me Up liquid corrector. By the contents of my other posts you should know i am a sucker for the Rimmel Wake Me Up range, It is incredible quality. It is easily applied to the skin and is great for under the eyes and blemishes on the skin. For spots i would use a stick concealer, usually the natural collection stick as it is cheap and works great to cover those spots.
For foundation, well let's face it if i wrote anything that wasn't Rimmel Wake Me Up i would be shaming myself. Wake Me Up foundation is amazing, i love it. It gives great coverage and stays on me all day. I seriously recommend this to anyone who wants a reliable foundation. I do prefer this to most high end foundations which is good as it retails at £7.99.
A great first setting powder is....Wake Me Up. Sorry i know this must be boring but seriously the Wake Me Up selection is amazing and because they are all face products its great that the whole range is good because you can buy the same shade knowing it all matches. It allows the shine to be taken off your face, removes that feeling of thick foundation on your skin and makes your makeup stay perfect for the day. I also like to apply this to my eyelid before applying shadow as it helps to keep my shadow from creasing.
BRONZER! Finally a non Rimmel Product. Bourjois Poudre Bronzante (Kinda makes me want a holiday) this bronzer is great for contouring the face or adding a nice bronzed glow to your skin. It is easily applied and will blend amazingly into the skin without giving away the fact you are wearing the bronzer. With bronzer you want a natural glow or a contour that makes your face look actually that slim. Bronzer should be something that isn't a obvious makeup product on your face like eyeliner or mascara. This product doesn't look obvious on the skin.
For a great first highlighter, The body shop: Brush on radiance. This highlighter is great for that subtle glow and has pink tones within it allowing it to give a more natural look to your face..not just shine but one that matches your natural skin. Also this is great for a substitute for blush. I don't normally wear a blush with a highlighter as they can be too much on the face. I will only use both if the blush is Matte.
Onto blush...My favourite currently is a MAC powder but seen as this is drugstore essentials...we will go for my alternative of beautyuk Baked blush. This isa great blusher as it has shiny tones which give a natural glow to the skin meaning no need for a highlighter. This is a really sheep product and is easy to apply. Great for those just starting with makeup or wanting to know an easy blush to use. This is an essential product to have in your makeup collection as it is a pink shade that can work with any makeup look.
For Eyeshadow my essential pallet to use would be the MUA Heaven and Earth pallete. It has a mixture of matte and glitter toned colours, they have browns, creams and blacks. Allowing you to use it for everyday makeup, smokey eye looks, dramatic looks just from one pallete.
A go-to essential eyeliner is the Benefit cat liner. It is a great essential eyeliner as it comes in pen felt form allowing you to apply in one swift motion. Great for when you're in a rush or just not grey at applying liner with a brush.
For mascara i love is Rimmel the falsies. This is a great mascara as it doesn't clump up and is great to just wack on. The mascara is great as it makes your eyelashes look fuller and longer and i love having this mascara in my collection.
I'm not going to give an essential lipstick as it depends on what shade you like and what type of lipstick you like to wear on an everyday basis. I will be doing a blog post on my favourite lipsticks and which brands are great for lip products.
So here are the essentials that i think are great for starting up your makeup collection or bits you should consider having in your collection for ease and quality for a cheap drugstore price.
Thankyou for reading.
