Life as a student couldn't be closer to it' stereotype. You live in basic accommodation, you are overwhelmed with work of which you don't understand, you think more about the price of food than ever before and you meet some of the most amazing people you'll ever meet. Moving to Nottingham was difficult for me, i was the only person in my family and my friendship group to ever move out of Birmingham. I was really putting myself in the deep end with moving away, but overall it was probably the best decision i have ever made. I love university, i love the people. I live in a 5 bed flat, where two of my flatmates do everything to not socialise with me. However, me and my two flatmates are friends with a fellow flat of five who are amazing. It's strange how over the course of two months i have made friends with 7 people whom i never would have even known to exist before university. My accommodation is out of the city centre meaning it can be a lot of hassle getting into uni but i love where i am staying i love living with friends. University has been the best decision i have ever made, i now have the confidence to do things alone, i can make friends and be confident with complete strangers. To anyone thinking of going to university, do it. The money may be tight, the beds may be small, the work may be overwhelming but you seriously have the best experiences. I have been at university two months, but it has been the best two months of my life. Culture. From living with 7 strangers i have learnt so much about the UK, i have got to know what it's like in Essex and Wales. i've got to know how other people live and its so amazing living in a group of so many accents and personalities. I still love my friends at home of course i do but its great to have a set of friends who are going through what you are going through. People who understand you 100% and people who despite coming from different parts of the UK have so much in common with you. |
