First term is coming to an end, so for most people who are at university they will be moving back home for the summer. Granted, everyone is probably happy about summer arriving and getting to spend some well needed time at home, and although we don't like to admit it, we will miss university.
The Freedom.
Yes, at home you may have the freedom to go out and cook your own meals etc but there is a certain level of freedom taken from you when at home. I know personally that i have to tell my parents everywhere that i am going and text them when i am on the way home. At university you don't have to necessarily tell anyone where you are, you are free to go anywhere without fearing somebody is worrying about you.
The People.
Living with fellow students and being around people your own age can get a bit much, but it is something you really miss when you're at home. Sure being around family is amazing and spending time with people of all ages is great but there is something about living with friends that you you really miss. You live with these people 24/7 and when you go home you really do miss being around these people who became such a huge part of everyday living. Uni flatmates and friends are missed.
Always having something to do.
Yes, your summer may be full of festivals, road trips and holidays but there is going to be a point where in the four months off you have nothing to do. Living with people your own age and having all your course friends so close you always have options of cheap things to do when you're bored. Living at university gives you so many opportunities to do things within such close proximities. You also have the option to literally do nothing with your day and not be judged.
Lie-ins.
Summer is relaxing but i know that personally i do not get the lie in i am used to at university at home. Mainly because my parents think a late night is 11pm and a lie in is 9am. All University students know that a late night is 4/5am (not going out i mean just in your room with Netflix or chilling with the flat) and a lie in can go up to 3pm. These 'waste of a day' lie-ins are going to be missed this summer.
The night-life
This summer you may go out clubbing, off to parties and have a drink at a gathering. But let's face it this summer you will not be going out as much as you do at university. There is something great about being able to decide at 8pm that you want to go out, roping in your friends and flatmates, getting ready and going without having to organise pre-drinks at somebody's house, where people will sleep, who will be last in the taxi ride with the extensive drop-offs. Going out at uni is so cheap, quick and easy and you are able to go out any night of the week if you wish. Something about home though, people don't want to go out as much because it is more of a hassle and there is so much more planning involved. The spontaneous, binge drinking, nights out will have to wait until second year.
