So, from personal experience i always found it so difficult to find one list online which told me exactly what to buy for university. So I've decided to write a REALLY DETAILED list of everything i took to university, everything i ended up having to buy for myself and everything i used to borrow from flatmates when i should have just got one myself.
First category is Kitchen stuff:
-plates.
-bowls.
-cups/mugs.
-cutlery.
-peeler.
-grater.
-potato masher.
-mixing bowls.
-colander.
-tongs, spatula, spoons,whisk.
-chopping board.
-kitchen roll. (comes in handy especially during drunken moments).
(for all of the above - preferably get ones that have a unique pattern or are coloured different, so that everyone knows that they are yours and mix ups do not occur.)
-shot glass, and a cup for drinking that is easy to clean from sticky alcohol.
Bathroom and Cleaning equipment:
-Bleach.
-surface cleaner.
-bin bags, (large and small, for your room bin).
-polish.
-rag cloths.
-sponges.
-dust pan and brush.
-scrubbing brush/toilet brush.
-toothbrush and toothpaste holder.
-towels, big and small.
-matt for your shower.
-scrubber/luffa.
Books and Equipment:
-Pens. (black, blue, coloured which will help during revision)
-highlighters.
-pencils.
-rubber.
-sharpener.
-cellotape.
-hole punch.
-stapler.
-glue.
-ruller.
-scissors.
-folders. (hard and soft, for in your room and for loose papers you need to organise)
-Notebooks -enough for each module, you'll want them separate for revision.
-sticky notes.
-bluetac. (especially if you're planning on putting up photos)
-drawpins. (if you have a board in your room to put things up)
-calculator. (if the one on your phone isn't enough)
-plain and lined paper.
- and most importantly, your course books which will be noted to you when you enrol.
Bedding and Decoration:
-Two sets of duvet and pillow cases.
-Two sheets for your bed.
-a mattress protector. (trust me this will change the way you sleep at university, making those brick hall mattresses a fluffy cloud)
-extra pillows, if you want them.
-pictures of people you love.
-extension lead. (in my uni hall i had one plug and it was the other side of the room to my bed so the lead was amazing for me charging my phone at night)
-a pot for your pens, this will help during revision. (mug or cup is ok)
-light or a fairy lights for around your bed for extra light during the night.
-anything else like posters or decorative stuff that you would have on a desk.
-favourite books, dvds and music.
-pack of cards. (preferably laminated so that you don't keep having to buy new packs because they've been drowned in alcohol during a really messy game of ring of fire or any drinking card game)/fun games like monopoly or cards against humanity for nights in with your flatmates.
Clothing and shoes:
Just like packing for a trip away you pack for any weather and occasion. University is just the same, you pack your normal clothes, going out, gym clothing, fancy dress, date night (if you're that lucky). Pack everything you think will be necessary but don't pack EVERYTHING YOU OWN, i did this and i had little to no room and i pretty much wore the same things over and over anyway. Shoes too. Makeup products and utensils, hair products and equipment. Anything you can't live without on a weekly basis.
Hope this helped, don't be scared to comment or message me asking for advice on university. Also i am going into second year at the end of this both and i will be writing throughout the year and about my excitement for year 2!!!!
